Afternoon Tea Roomやスターバックスなどを展開するSAZABYグループが手がけている和カフェ「SADEU」。お茶とおやつとごはんが楽しめる新感覚の茶寮、というテーマのお店です。
SADEUにもかき氷があるということで、行って参りました（夏季限定メニュー）。まだ店舗は少なくて、新宿タカシマヤのほか、銀座、六本木ヒルズ、名古屋松坂屋、福岡岩田屋にあるそうです。
夏季限定のかき氷は2種類あります。「宇治金時みるく」と「黒蜜きなこみるく」。相当迷ったのですが、今回は宇治金時みるくをいただきました。
サイズは中の中くらい。宇治とミルクのかき氷に、粒あんが添えられ、白玉が載り、そしてソフトクリームが横に寄り添っています。
ソフトクリームが載っているかき氷というと、最近だとこんなのを食べてるんですが、SADEUの宇治金時みるくはソフトクリームが真上でなく、横に載っているので非常に食べやすい！細かい話ですが、実はポイント高いです。上に載ってしまっていると、氷を食べる前にまずソフトクリームを食べ終わらないといけないんですよね。氷食べつつソフトクリームも…というまねができないのです。
で、お味。
おいしいです。なんともおいしいです。ちゃんと点てた抹茶の味、ほのかに甘いミルク、ぷにぷにと柔らかな白玉の歯ごたえ、柔らかく炊いた粒あん、白く輝くソフトクリーム…
実にバランスがよくて、楽しい気持ちで食べ進められます。うん、おいしい。
…しかし、よくよく考えるとどうしてこのかき氷がおいしいのか、不思議に思えてきたのでした。
抹茶はおいしいけど、例えば虎屋や紀の善のように、抹茶の味がガツンと効いた美味ではないわけです。粒あんも、柔らかくて、氷とのなじみはいいけれど、感動するほどおいしいわけではない。ソフトクリームの味も、合格点ではあるけれど褒められるほどではない。なにより私としては気になるのが氷がかなりガリガリなことです（写真↓参照）
個人的に、氷がガリガリだとかなりポイントが低くなってしまうのが常。それなのになぜ…？
「不思議だ、不思議だ」と思いながら食べ進めるうちに、はっと気づいたのです。「これは“抹茶ラテ”のかき氷版だ」ということに…。
抹茶を点てて、泡立てた牛乳で割った飲み物が抹茶ラテ。和カフェでは定番中の定番メニューです。
最近は缶ドリンクやファストフードメニューとしても出てきていますが、お茶の味が売りの和カフェなら当然おいしいメニューです。
私はこの抹茶ラテが大好物なんですが、SADEUのかき氷の味は「宇治＋練乳」ではなく、ミルク感を全面に押し出した「抹茶ラテ」の味なんですよね。抹茶ラテを氷で再現したらこんな味になりました、という感じ。レシピを考えた人は実に上手い。この手堅さはさすがSAZABYグループだよなあ、と妙な感心をしてしまったのでした。
一つ一つはそれほど際だっていないのに、トータルとして見ると手堅くおいしく、幅広い客層の支持を得られそうな味…“かき氷”を目的に行ったら肩すかしをくらうかもしれないけれど、和カフェで出てくるかき氷としては、非常に高得点…そんな美味です。
京はやしやとSADEUの差はそこにあるのかもしれない、などと思いながらお店を出ました。こんどは銀座店でもう一種類のかき氷食べてみようっと。（←また行く気になってる）

カキ氷の食べ歩きを楽しんでます。
昨日私は銀座のSADUEに行って来まして
同じメニューをいただきました。
私もがりがり系が苦手なので途中から
少し頭が痛くなってきたので
ゆっくり食べてたら氷がなくなってしまったのですが
でもみるくと抹茶の氷が溶けた状態でいただいたら
確かに抹茶ラテに近かったです。
ちなみに銀座店のカキ氷は宇治金時みるくのみですので
ご注意ください。
私も黒蜜きなこみるくが気になります！
六本木ヒルズにはあるそうですよ。
